Incumbent Republican Connie Lawson

The secretary of state serves as Indiana's chief elections officer. In addition to that role, they are also responsible for chartering new business, regulating the securities industry, commissioning notaries public, registrating trademarks and licensing of vehicle dealerships throughout Indiana.

In 2018's election, Lawson faces Democrat Jim Harper and Libertarian Mark Rutherford.

Lawson was appointed Secretary of State in March 2012 to finish the term of Charlie White, who was ousted after a voter fraud scandal. She was then elected to the position in 2014.
