Congratulations!

About 1 in 5 authored bills get signed into law. But most don't get passed on their first try. Depending on the complexity of the legislation, it takes an average of three to five years to get a bill signed into law.

The success of your legislation is also highly dependent on what party authors your bill. In 2019, 5 percent of Democrat-authored legislation became law, compared to 30 percent of Republican-authored legislation.
